In an age where information is abundant and often misleading, media literacy has never been more crucial. This event will provide you with valuable insights, practical strategies, and innovative tools to help young people critically evaluate media messages and become informed digital citizens.

This event is designed to support educators. However, parents looking for insight into how they can empower their kids to think more critically about the news they consume online, will benefit from this full day event.

Refreshments and Lunch will be provided at no additional cost.
​Presentations will focus on:
  • A multi-pronged approach to helping students spot misinformation, find reliable sources and understand the importance of journalism today.
  • The evolution and outlook around media literacy education
  • Strategies to overcome the challenges and obstacles of teaching media literacy
  • Participants will have the opportunity to engage in a live Ask Me Anything (AMA) session with the Toronto Star's editor-in-chief, Nicole MacIntyre.  
The event concludes with a tour of the Toronto Star Newsroom. Free media literacy resources will be available. Refreshments and lunch are included.
